AFTERCARE & HEALING PROCESS - Microblading

To wash your brows after microblading, gently cleanse the area with a clean, damp cotton pad or your fingertips using water and a mild antibacterial soap, patting the area dry instead of rubbing.  If necessary, then apply a thin layer of the recommended aftercare ointment; avoid getting your brows excessively wet for at least 10 days after the procedure to ensure proper healing and pigment retention.

Key points to remember:

  • Avoid soaking: Don't submerge your brows in water for the first few days to a week after microblading.

  • Gentle touch: Use a very light touch when cleaning your brows, never scrub or scratch.

  • Clean cotton pads: Use clean cotton pads or a soft cloth to cleanse the area.

  • Aftercare ointment: Always apply a small amount of the provided aftercare ointment as directed by your technician.

  • Avoid touching: Try not to touch your brows unnecessarily during the healing process.

AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS
DO NOT scrub, rub, or pick at the epithelial crust that forms. Allow it to flake off by itself. If it is removed before it is ready, the pigment underneath it can be pulled out.

DO NOT use Vaseline on the area, this will cause the color to fade.

DO NOT use any makeup on the area for at least 7 days.

DO NOT use any Retin-A, Glycol Acids, or Neosporin in the tattooed area during or after healing.

DO NOT expose area to sun or tanning beds.

DO NOT swim in a pool for 14 days after your procedure.

DO NOT dye or tweeze the microbladed area for one week after the procedure.

What is normal?
• Mild swelling, itching, light scabbing, light bruising and dry tightness. Ice packs are a nice relief for swelling and bruising. Aftercare ointments work well for scabbing and tightness.

• Too dark and slightly uneven appearance. After 2-7 days the darkness will fade, and once any swelling dissipates, unevenness usually disappears. If it is too dark or still a bit uneven after 4 weeks, call My Best Brows and we will make adjustments during the touch-up appointment.

• Color change or color loss. As the procedure area heals, the color will lighten and sometimes seem to disappear in places. This can be addressed during the touch up appointment, which is why touch up appointments are necessary. The procedure area has to heal completely before we can address any concerns. Healing takes about 4 weeks.

• Need a touch up months later. A touch up may be needed 6 months to 1 year after the first touch up procedure depending on your skin, medications, and sun exposure. We recommend the first touch up 30 days after the first session, then every 6 months to 1 year to keep your microblading looking fresh and beautiful! If most hair strokes have faded, the entire procedure will need to be repeated. An email photo consultation (or in person consultation) may be necessary to determine if you need a touch up or a repeat of the entire procedure.

CAUTION: If the skin around the microbladed area breaks into a heat rash, or small pimples, this is usually a reaction to the numbing solution and should go away on its own in a couple of weeks. Please do not pick at it! Call My Best Brows immediately if this occurs so a technician can make a note of the reaction and follow up to ensure this is not a more serious situation!
